The example of pictures posted to show differances when doing different types of picture taking. Also the time to be able to comprehend the information on our own time. The instructor was available to answer questions and assisted students not only in a professional manner, but also in a way which allowed the students to understand and apply the new skills. This is an excellent course and an excellent instructor. Improvement_suggestions: I believe everything can always be improved, regardless what it may be. However, this instructor covered more than what I had expected in a Basic Photography class. The instructor has obviously kept current with technology and current standards; it is also very apparant he loves what he does - he has passion - and this is what makes a great instructor. time I was unable to finish. I can honestly say, I have learned more about
my camera, it's settings and photography theory than I ever thought I

that you are not expected to learn everything about your camera. You are
given information about basic settings and principles of the SLR camera.(Whether
it be film or digital)Most of the time illustrations were given to help
you understand. The student is the one who decides what he/she will learn.
The more you practice the principles given to you, the more you will learn.
I personally feel that I entered Als class as a picture taker and left
his class as a photographer. Al was always ready with kind remarks and

your expertise. With your artist s eye, you see things that I missed.
e.g. blurred horses hooves, varied colored seas, light in eyes, etc. that
give life and meaning to these reflections. Your photographs are treasured
expressions, sharing love of life with all who view them. While I have
read good photographic books, e.g. Nikon D50, studied Canon s Photography
Workshop, and enjoyed photography internet classes; your easily understood
lessons surpass these excellent sources and I appreciate them.

Monique Clark Mary Earl Rating: [5 of 5 Stars!] Kim Anderson klandeson363@earthlink.net I found this class totally by accident, believe me when I say it was the best accident that has happened to me. My husband bought me a camera for Christmas, lucky for me it had auto focus as well as manual settings on it, because that was all I knew how to do. Then I stumbled onto the website, and everything changed. I have learned so much from Al, and have enjoyed his class so much that I now have taken it twice, and thinking about taking it again. Not to mention the pictures I am taking all the time now. I love photography, now more than ever. Al, not only goes into great detail with assignments, but makes himself available, either online, or by phone, for any question or problem that may occur. He is always there with an encouraging word, and praise for my work. Never tires of giving advise, or helping to solve any problems that any one of his students had during both classes that I attended. Whether you are a beginner like me, or someone with experience in the camera world, I feel you can benefit from what Al has to offer. Jennifer Stanley, Florida I have taken Al Mierau’s six week 35mm Photography course eight times now. I just can’t seem to get enough! I have gone from being a “point and shoot” photographer, to one who now knows how to over-ride the automatic settings on my camera, and even do special effects and create some artistic photos. I used to get my photos back and quickly put them into the photo album. Now, I feel confident enough to show my photos to my friends, and family, and have even entered and won a photo contest. With Al’s guidance, I have gained the confidence to feel comfortable behind the camera. Al teaches his students how to become better at photography, and encourages his students to “think outside the box” and look at the world a little differently. Al goes out of his way to find answers for his students when they have questions or problems with their equipment. I have never taken a class where the instructor is so helpful. This is a very informative and helpful class for any level photographer, from the first time camera user to the intermediate photographer who wants to improve their skills. I feel that this class offers just as much, if not more than all those “expensive” classes offered online. I would recommend this class to all who are reading this now. You wont regret it!

it. Beverly Yelen yelblvd@mindspring.com I have taken Al Mierau’s 35mm Photography class three times. His lessons were revised each time in order to include current improvements. Because of this, each time that I took the course, I was able to better perfect my photographic skills. My family and friends have told me that my photographs definitely show this improvement. Al Mierau is an excellent teacher. Since I am a retired educator, I recognize it when someone has the natural ability to teach. It is a lot harder to teach a class on-line because one cannot see the immediate responses from the students. Not only does Al honestly critique each student’s progress, but also, he spends much extra time helping with individual questions asked of him. He even takes the time to research the answers in order to recommend more detailed instruction about the problem. In my case, I had the feeling that I was sitting in a real classroom where I could get an immediate response from the instructor. I have written this testimonial because it is rare to find an on-line teacher who is sincerely interested in the progress of his students. The course has been worth much more to me in dollars (other classes were much more expensive and required the purchase of an expensive text book, while Al includes all of the necessary information in his lessons without the need of a text book.) and time spent than if I enrolled in a comparable course. I am sure that you will enjoy Al Mierau’s classes as much as I did.
